Motivational Speeches
72Life Changing Speeches
Have you ever heard a speech that just moved you? I don't necessary mean to tears. What I mean is a speech that caused you to want to take immediate action, to make some change or difference in your life for the better. These are motivational speeches.
We all know that words have the power to move our souls. This usually happens when a speaker has the ability to paint an image in your mind. They are able to stir up some intense emotions that causes you to stop going down the path you've been doing down in life and consciously choosing to take a different, more enlightening road. We hear these types of speeches conducted everywhere.
I was recently attending a high school graduation ceremony where the main speaker spoke from his heart and talked about how this is just the beginning of a beautiful journey for the students. He talked about how life will be tough, mistakes will be make, failures will be plentiful, and feelings of defeat will be common. He urged the student that when these things happen, they must not give in. They must not give up. They must stand up, dust themselves off, and keep going.
I remember the first time I saw the Last Lecture speech by Dr. Randy Pausch. Much of the speech as about the different lessons he picked up throughout this life. It got me to wonder the answer to his question at the beginning of his speech which was basically if you knew it was your the last lecture you will give, what would it be on? Dr. Pausch, at the time I saw the video, was battling cancer and unfortunately on July 25, 2008, passed away. Nonetheless, he left the world with his motivational speech about life. The orginal clip is over an hour long but here is a short version he did of it on the Oprah Show.
One of my favorite motivational speeches are from the greats like Tony Robbins and Les Brown. There are always times when you will feel down and defeated when you are pursuing a goal. That's just a part of the game. The bigger your dreams, the more successful you want to become, the more criticism there will be. With so much negativity, it's easy to become discouraged at the first sign of defeat. You will hear the, "I told you so's" often.
During these times, I have quite a few of them, listening to a motivational speech helps me put things into perspective and reminds me that this is all part of the challenge. No one ever said success and achieving dreams will be easy. The truth is that is difficult and that is why the majority of the population will end up settling for less, it's easier.
One of the my favorite motivational speech is from Tony Robbin's Awaken the Giant Within. In that program, and the very end, he has a short message where he basically issues a challenge to take the skills you've acquired from the program and use them to make your dreams a reality. It was one of the very first self improvement programs I have ever listened to. It helped changed my perspective on life from a negative outlook to a positive one.
As I said in the beginning, motivational speeches have the power to change lives. I know, because it has helped changed mine for the better. Let me end this hub with another motivational video by another one of my favorite motivational speakers, Les Brown.
